Colin looks at the actor both objectively and subjectively. At left, we see the camera’s view; at right, we’re given the artistic impression using two shades of yellow—sand and cadmium—and the merest hint of the features one remembers, such as the eyes and the well groomed hair. Jean-Pierre Aumont was born in 1909, made his debut in the theatre at 20, and eventually became a big film star, appearing on the screen regularly between 1931 and 1976. He even made some guest appearances in Hollywood productions, such as “Lili” in 1953. During World War II, he fought with the Free French and got decorated with the Croix de Guerre as well as the Legion d’Honneur.
