The association Organisme National d'Aide aux Combattants (National Combatant Assistance Organization) was founded in 1916 to help wounded soldiers and their families. Because of the present-tense text which reads “They die for you,” it was most likely printed just before the liberation of France. On the soldier’s arm is the cross of Lorraine, who was the symbol of the resistance under de Gaulle.
