“One of the basic differences between Cassandre and Colin has to do with subject matter: Cassandre produced posters mainly for commercial products and services—railroads, steamships, wines, beers, automobiles—while Colin produced largely performing arts and patriotic posters; but not, as is seen here, to the exclusion of the commercial poster. In fact, Colin created many more of these... because they are less unique and spectacular than the others, we tend to overlook them. There is something droll about this woman, so obviously luxuriating in her full relief, holding her little box of Pilules Dupuis which so effortlessly conquered her constipation” (Colin, p. 11).
