The mark of a superior artist is the ability to transform (what many may call) boring subjects into beautiful, captivating things. A perfect example: Paul Colin's poster for a humble electrical parts convention. Colin retrieves the original magic from mankind's first flirtations with electric power, and fashions a fluorescent tube as a wand, and an incandescent bulb as a magic hat—all controlled by an invisible magician in the background. In doing so, Colin actually anticipates (by 20 years) Arthur C. Clarke's 1973 thought, Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. Consider that the next time you give your electrician a call.
