The shadow behind the performer wears a crown, subtly suggesting the dual personality of the heroine of this stage play by Marcelle Maurette. The plot has a mysterious woman emerge from obscurity with a claim that she is Anastasia, heir to the Russian throne, who was supposedly murdered as a child with her whole family many years before in the Bolshevik revolution. Juliette Greco, who took on the role on the French stage, was born in 1926 in Montpelier, and made her debut in the 1940s in Paris with existentialist chansons. This stage experience gave her career a boost, and she thereafter appeared in several French and international films. Colin perfectly captures the quiet reserve and yet great inner strength which Greco projected in her role.
