“The great actress and singer, Marie Dubas, born in Paris two years after Colin, in 1894, started as a singer of operettas such as Franz Lehar’s La Valse des Libellules and André Messager’s L’Amour Masqué. She was one of the leading singers of the thirties, often favorably compared to Edith Piaf and Annie Cordy. She starred in revues at the Casino de Paris and the Concert Mayol. The revue advertised here, Sex Appeal 32, had a tough act to follow, the very successful 1931-32 revue titled Paris qui remue... but it would appear that Dubas, with the help of Charpini, Pills and Tabet, and Andrex, overcame that obstacle and, if the lively poster by Colin, who is credited with inspiring and decorating the whole revue as well is any indication, it was a successful show. Commenting... on Dubas, Colin [said], ‘She was very successful and she was very sexy; as for the show, I did everything—the costumes, the stage designs, the program, the poster’” (Colin, p. 10).
