The engaging nightclub performer we see strutting out of a French horn was a kind of Parisian Mel Tormé, “one of the most celebrated ‘velvet-voices’ of his era” (Colin Affichiste, p. 88). The popular crooner began his career in 1932 as a band singer in Paris and soon became a recording star in both French and English. Colin also created a poster in 1946 to celebrate Sablon’s return to France after spending the war years in the U.S. Rare!
