Trained by Ernest Belcher in Los Angeles, Georgia Graves quickly became one of the more celebrated dancers in the Western World. This poster was created for her performance at the Folies-Bergère, during which she combined both dance and acrobatics to create wildly exuberant routines. She frequently utilized giant balls (she called them ”bubbles”), oversized fans, and other large-scale props, creating a half-burlesque, half-circus performance.
