These are two preparatory works for finalized posters promoting the famous dancer. Katherine Dunham was always met with an enthusiastic audience when she toured France. And while these images are certainly more mature and developed than those which Colin created for the Revue Nègre, they still embody that unbridled air of the exotic flair which made her shows so popular.
