The Flowers set of decorative panels consisted of four stunning women intended to embody the Rose, the Iris, the Lily, and, shown here, the Carnation. The Carnation is the only brunette represented in a field of blondes, seen casting a coy glance over her shoulder. The pose was so enticing that she, alone amongst these four, was later used to advertise a commercial product (see Rennert/Weill, 61) with only slight changes to detail.
