Cappiello called upon the self-satisfied likeness of King Francois I to promote both Triple Sec Galland and Curacao Galland. The monarch "is shown appreciating the drink that was produced approximately three-hundred years after his reign (1515-1547). He was a popular favorite for his avid support of arts and letters, as well as for his victories on the battlefield, most notably that at Marignan in Navarre in 1515... [The] pride in [the firm's] age remains strong: not only does its founding in 1821 remain, but the bottom text emphasizes it’s 'The old French liqueur.' An additional text line gives credit to the firm’s Paris agent" (Cappiello/Rennert, p. 132).
