This fantastical, colorful image of a dancing quartet in diaphanous gowns might remind some poster lovers of other lithographs created for Loïe Fuller. In fact, this presentation at the Nouveau Théâtre employed light machines previously purchased by Fuller for a series of dance performances there (Parisian Music-hall Ballet, 1871-1913, p. 181). Lopes-Silva visually represents this fascinating new technology with waves of glowing light and shadow.
