In operation from 1889 to 1970, the Great Northern Railway ran from Saint Paul, Minnesota to Seattle, Washington as the northernmost transcontinental railroad in the U.S. Reiss pays tribute to the Native Americans who have resided along this northwestern route: one image shows a Pegan Chief in Glacier National Park, and the other tells the story of a Blackfeet dancing boy.
