This fabulous Deco design brings us on a dynamic journey aboard "Le Train Bleu," the luxury French night train that ran express from Calais in the north to the French Riviera in the south. It was revered as the most elegant train during its interwar heyday—and it ran for a long time, from 1886 to 2003. Beloved by celebrities and artists alike, it was the inspiration for the play Le Train Bleu, created by Serge Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes with contributions from Jean Cocteau, Coco Chanel, and Pablo Picasso; it was also the subject of Agatha Christie's 1928 novel, "The Mystery of the Blue Train." Using various shades of blue, geometric shapes, and allusions to the Riviera lifestyle, Zenobel perfectly encapsulates the glamour and prestige of this legendary train.
