Air France / Israel
Air France / Israel
The modern state of Israel declared its independence in 1948. The following year, Renluc designed a poster for Air France that featured a female settler firmly planting an Israeli flag on the occasion of the airline adding Tel Aviv to their list of destinations (see PAI-LXXXVII, 88). Three years later he was commissioned to create another poster for travel to the country on the eastern edge of the Mediterranean Sea and this time he lays down an aerial view of the entirety of Israel, displaying it as a land deeply rooted in tradition and history, yet with an eye firmly cast to the future—and with a little beach time thrown in for good measure.
